SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic and P-TIOX serums

Can You Use SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic and P-TIOX Together?

Posted by Cassandra Finlayson on

It is one of the most common questions we get in clinic. You have heard about C E Ferulic, you have seen P-TIOX, and you want to know whether you have to choose between them, or whether they belong in the same routine. The short answer: they do two different jobs, and used correctly, they work better together than either does on its own. Here is how to think about it.

What C E Ferulic does

C E Ferulic is an antioxidant serum. It combines 15% pure vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) with vitamin E and ferulic acid, a formula designed to help defend skin against the visible effects of everyday environmental stress such as pollution. Its antioxidant performance is supported by SkinCeuticals' own clinical research. Applied each morning under your SPF, it is formulated to support brighter, more even-looking skin over time. Think of it as your daily layer of defence.

What P-TIOX does

P-TIOX is a peptide serum built for a different purpose. Where C E Ferulic defends, P-TIOX is formulated to target the appearance of expression lines, texture and radiance using a blend of peptides. SkinCeuticals' own clinical research supports its role in improving the look of expression lines over time. It is the serum people reach for when they want to support smoother, fresher-looking skin as part of their at-home routine. Think of it as your treatment step.

C E Ferulic vs P-TIOX: the simple difference

The easiest way to remember it: C E Ferulic prevents, P-TIOX corrects. One defends your skin against daily damage. The other targets the visible signs that show up over time. They are not competing with each other. They are covering different bases.

Can you use C E Ferulic and P-TIOX together?

Yes. Because they work in completely different ways, there is no conflict in using both. An antioxidant serum and a peptide serum sit comfortably in the same routine, and pairing them means you are defending and refining at the same time. For a lot of our clients, that combination is exactly what they are after, which is why we offer both as bundles.

How to layer them

Order matters with active ingredients. As a general guide:

  1. Cleanse.
  2. Apply C E Ferulic first, to clean, dry skin. Vitamin C absorbs best on bare skin, so it goes on before anything else.
  3. Give it a minute to settle, then apply P-TIOX.
  4. Follow with your moisturiser.
  5. In the morning, always finish with an SPF. C E Ferulic and sunscreen are a powerful pairing for daytime protection.

C E Ferulic is a morning serum. P-TIOX can be used morning and night. If you prefer to keep things simple, use C E Ferulic in the AM and P-TIOX in the PM so each one has its own moment.

If you can only start with one

If you are new to medical-grade skincare and want to begin with a single serum, start with C E Ferulic. Antioxidant protection is the foundation every routine is built on, and it is the product we are asked about most. Once that is part of your daily habit, adding P-TIOX is a natural next step when you want to do more.

A note from our nurses

Every skin is different. What we have outlined here is a general guide, not personal advice. If you are unsure which serum suits your skin or how to introduce them, book a consultation with our registered nurses and we will build a routine around your skin, not someone else's.
